Counties and places with a population of 65,000 or more are included in this first batch of data. The 2014-2018 5-year ACS release in December will include the remaining cities and counties, as well as tracts and block groups.

Suicide is among the leading causes of death in Tennessee for people ages 15 to 54. In 2017, 1166 people in the state died by intentional self-harm and the rate of suicide per 100,000 population reached a historic high.

2020 Census preparations brings house numbers into the spotlight
Every housing unit in the Tennessee will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census… if that home’s address appears in the U.S. Census Bureau’s Master Address File (MAF). Across the state, the work is ongoing to ensure that happens.

A new Census Bureau map was recently released highlighting 2020 Census Complete Count Committees that have formed across the country and in Tennessee.

Knoxville-Knox County Planning published an interactive overview of regional demographics, labor force and development activity to support their review of their Growth Policy Plan. The site presents a variety of maps and data visualizations that the group plans to use the site in upcoming community presentations.
2018 Population Data Shows State’s Fastest-Growing Cities, Counties Are Mid-State
Based on the change in population between July 1, 2017, and July 1, 2018, nine of the 10 cities with the largest gains were in Middle Tennessee. Murfreesboro and Clarksville were the state’s two fastest-growing cities of 2018. Metropolitan Nashville–Davidson County was third and ranked as the 24th most populous city in the nation.
New dashboard highlights county-population trends
Population estimates for Tennessee’s 95 counties take center stage in a new dashboard released by the Tennessee State Data Center. It features data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2018 Vintage Population Estimates that were released in April 2019.

The Division of Property Assessment at the Office of the Comptroller has released a land use map series for 300 municipalities and 82 counties in the state. Population and demographics indicators from the American Community Survey are included on the city and town maps.
