Knoxville-area regional grow trends highlighted in new map series

Knoxville-Knox County Planning published an interactive overview of regional demographics, labor force and development activity to support their review of their Growth Policy Plan. The site presents a variety of maps and data visualizations that the group plans to use the site in upcoming community presentations.

GNRC’s Open Data Portal Goes Live

80 downloadable datasets, along with a variety of maps, and applications are featured in the new Greater Nashville Regional Council Open Data Portal. The portal is in a “soft-launch” and if you have feedback or want drop a line of kudos, send it to  data@gnrc.org.

Two new affiliates join TN SDC network

We are excited to welcome two new groups to our growing list of affiliates. The Metro Planning Department for Nashville & Davidson County is an active data user and research group that participates in many Census-related program. Planning agencies in the state’s four largest cities are among the SDC affiliates.

The UT-Knoxville Library, like most university libraries, serves as an important interface for researchers and students seeking data. In April, we teamed with the library to offer an early data.census.gov training and hope to do more with the state’s other library systems.
