New this week: 2018 American Community Survey 1-year release

The 2018 ACS release cycle kicks off when the One-Year ACS data is posted on Thursday, September 26th. Counties and places with a population of 65,000 or more are included in this first batch of data. The 2014-2018 5-year ACS release in December will include the remaining cities and counties, as well as tracts and block groups.

Metropolitan Statistical Areas, along with cities and counties with more than 65,000 in population, are in the ACS 1-year release.

Comparison Profiles

Digging through a new data release can be daunting. Comparison Profiles are an easy way to browse recent trends. These tables show a time series for a number of variables in a subject, include an asterisk to indicate which changes are statistically significant  and dollar amounts that are inflation adjusted to the release year.

There are four comparison tables available through data.census.gov. The 2018 data will be added on September 26th.
