2020 Year in Review: Highlighted Work from the Tennessee State Data Center
This short presentation reviewed some of the State Data Center’s work from 2020, such as supporting the 2020 Census and efforts to support the state’s response to the COVD-19 pandemic. Elements of the 2021 work plan were also introduced.

Unpacking the 2020 Initial Census Data Releases
In this presentation, we review the first releases from the upcoming 2020 Census data products. Included is a discussion about when the 2020 TIGER and redistricting data will be released, as well as a look at best practices for processing the data in order to help ensure a smooth data release for your organization.

Accessing the Census API for Data Visualizations
Gerson Vasquez, U.S. Census Bureau Data Visualization Lead, provided a short training session on how to use the Census Data API for conducting research and how to integrate the results into a Tableau visualization.

Hacking Sub-County Population Estimates: Results from 2019 Housing Unit Review Pilot
Tim Kuhn, Tennessee State Data Center Director, shared results of 2019 project where building permit data was collected in three counties. The data was used to help improve U.S Census Bureau Population Estimates for the municipal and unincorporated parts of these counties leading up to the 2020 Census.
