This webinar serves as an introduction to help you get started and familiar with how to navigate the Census Bureau’s API.



Learn how to use the U.S. Census Bureau’s application programming interface (API) to quickly access data in a standardized way. In just a few easy steps, you can edit a sample URL, save your results and open it in Excel to get the data you need. Veteran Census Bureau Data Dissemination Specialist Tim Sarko will lead the session.

Retrieving bulk data from the American Community Survey or Decennial Census is a useful tool for data users of all levels. With a working a working knowledge of the API, users can retrieve data from different tables, geographic areas or years in large quantities more quickly than using web interface on data.census.gov.

NOTE:  Although programmers and developers can use the Census Bureau’s API, this session targets data users who wish to learn faster and more efficient ways to retrieve Census data.
